Have you ever been to Candyland?

Kandee shoes...a force to be reckoned with

In a society so consumed about calorie counting, it sure is reassuring that women can have candy without the guilt trip. I must confess that I just heard about Josh Wyman's new venture not too long ago. The 21 year old designer...yep, 21... launched Kandee shoes in 2010 and since then has been making quite a impression  on the shoe world (by the way, is there another world?!). From Hollywood celebrities to regular shoe freaks like us, it's sure to have something for all tastes and they are all around $250. Take a look at some of them.

This is the special edition Space Sherbet Bootie from the
2011 Spring/Summer collection. It is said to be inspired
by an early 1960's sandal...
The Blue Raspberry Slushy...made with leather and blue
crystals...sure sounds better than your "regular" slushy
from 7Eleven...

The Glace Cherry...with a 6 inches heel and 2 inches
platform, is like wearing a 4 inches heel, right?

Tang!!! I just love how colorful it is...maybe it reminds
me of a bag of Skittles....and yes, I'd love to
taste the rainbow!!

Back by popular demand

Some more of the WTF were they thinking shoes

As we established before, certain shoes are just a big no no...Trust me, I can understand wearing a pair of shoes that will make you stand out, a piece of resistance if you will... but certain things and yes, you read right, I just called shoes things, are not to be manufactured, let alone worn. So here are a few for some laughs...

I guess Paris Hilton got tired of Princess or whatever
the name of her Chiuaua was...poor thing never
saw it coming...

OK, so for my friends that like to play Slug Bug...if I was to
wear these, can I punch you non-stop? I'm gonna say YES!

What can I say?! Apparently winos have a whole
lot of time on their hands...

Ahhhh, the shoe pants... I understand some of us lead a
very busy life but really?! You can't take the time to put
shoes AND pants on? You might as well wear a onesie
with it...
I get it...girls sure do need their weapons...and I believe
that an accurate kick from these puppies can cause some
serious damage...just hope they're permanent...

Lilly's one of my favorite flowers and I really think
these would be awesome to wear...but wouldn't they wilt
 before the party?

What do you think it would happen if she stood up?
My money is on falling...face first.

And then you wonder why you
fall so much...

This is for you "bias" that complain about
how much your shoes hurt...forget Marcellus Wallace,
go medieval with this baby!!!

Divorce shoes

Going back to my "shoe roots"

As some of you may know, I'm in the process of getting divorced...actually it's almost over now, hence I've been neglecting this blog for quite a while. With all the changes happening in my personal life something clicked in my head. It is time to remember who I really am and not what someone wanted me to be and I'm just a girl that loves life, loves her kids, loves her friends (and thank the Universe for them!), loves her family and SHOES! Yes I love shoes and I love writing this blog, so here I am...back at it...
With all that said, here's a small selection of shoes that remind me of who I am and why I fell in love with shoes in the first place. So please feel free to join the nostalgia...

My mom had a pair similar to this one...and I blame her and
those shoes for my hippie phase...

Oh, come on!!! who didn't love these? Yes they made your feet
a sweaty mess but we sure loved them!
One more for the 80's...yes I'm not a sneakers kind of girl,
but even I owed a pair of Converse back then...I just
wish they looked like these...
Oh please....don't throw the first stone...we all owned a
pair of combat boots in the early 90's...mine were just
shiny...loooove shiny...
Then I fell in love with pin up shoes around the late
90's...and I must admit, heels have been my friends
ever since...
The first pair of shoes I truly fell in love with...it was all of
my past coming together in a cohesive and updated way...
it didn't hurt that they were Blahnik's...

And the complete evolution...my true lover...Christian Louboutin.
This Pigalle is from the 2011 Fall collection...and it's
completely perfect....
Of course I couldn't leave out the object of my obsession...
It's been heard that I'd do unspeakable things for
these shoes...but for any of you that feel bad for the things
said on the first paragraph of this entry, feel free to give them
to me as a divorce present....

The must have series - Part Five

SHOES

Being able to actually post this entry has been almost as difficult as giving birth...and I had triplets.  Writing about shoes is one thing, but actually deciding on only a few as must haves, is been an arduous and borderline impossible task...especially for someone like me. But I finally had the strength to get it out. So beware that this is a list of the absolutely necessary, not what I really believe that are the only must haves. So, if one of your favorite styles is not here...I feel your pain.

THE PUMP

Yes, I know that most of us heard that you must own at least one pair of low heeled black pumps...like it's the "little black dress of shoes"...well, I'll beg to differ...I think that if we're talking about must haves here, we should have a high heeled pump. One that can take you from work into a art gallery opening without any concern. So, here's my pick for the perfect pump...and for the rest of us mortals, also a more affordable version.

What really can I say about Louboutin's...they're perfect, they're
expensive, but most of all, they're worth it!!!

These are Steve Madden's...they're great pumps with 4 1/2 inch heels!!
You can find them for $79.95 at www.shoemall.com.

THE FLAT

When I talk about flats, I mean anything that will make you comfortable...it can be ballet flats, kitten heels or even sneakers...yep, I said it...even though I'm not the biggest fan...Anyway, I truly believe that we all should have at least one pair of flats, especially if they fit inside your purse...in case you're going to do some unexpected running around or simply trying to get ahead of the curve on the famous "walk of shame"... Oh yes, I guess I forgot to mention about the days you can't just have it...these are good for those too...

Dr. Scholls makes these roll up flats that can be a salvation to
any girl...do I really need to say more? (By the way, you can
find them at any drugstore for around $13!)

If you're going to wear flats, make a statement...make them fun and
careless. Use colors even if you have on your most boring work suit.

THE SANDAL

They are very important, especially in summer months...who likes their feet to be sweaty anyway?  They don't necessarily need to be high heeled, but it still needs to leave a mark (not on your feet). So, if you decide to go with flip flops or Manolo's, keep in mind that sandals are supposed to be fun.

Maybe is because I'm brazilian, but Havaianas are and will
always be my favorite flip flops.

These Manolo Blahnik's tortoise sandals are neutral enough to go with
almost anything and it will definitely make a statement.

THE BOOT

There are so many different styles of boots that anyone can find at least one that they'll fall in love with. In my opinion, you should have two pairs, one for a more dressy winter night like an ankle bootie and a flat (I know...it kills me too) that's higher on your leg, mid calf should be fine, for more everyday errands. Keep in mind that you can wear both of these styles at any time of day or night, it all depends on what you pair them with.

Ah, Dior...you can never go wrong with it. I know it's lace
and you probably have seen it done a thousand times, but
these are so romantic and sexy with the lace-up back that
almost reminds of a favorite pair of underwear. You can find
it Neiman Marcus for a mere $1,050.

Steve Madden makes these flat suede  slouch boots comes in an array of different colors,
are slip on and really comfortable. Not to mention that they're prettier than any UGG.

THE SHOW STOPPER

Ok, so some of you might think this should not be at the must have list, but they should and they are. This is the piece of resistance inside your closet. This is the shoe you go to if you're feeling down for whatever reason, if your favorite jeans turned out too tight in the morning, if you're a having a bad hair day or simply because you feel like having the best shoes at a party...or maybe you have plans to have only the shoes   on after it... Whatever your reason is, a pair of one of these is a true picker upper. So be loud, be bold and above all, be fierce.
Alexander McQueen...no words necessary.
These are Valentino's created by the fabulous Philip Treacy... I'm thinking fairy tale meets editorial fashion. I
truly believe I could commit unspeakable acts to my hands (and feet) into one of them.

These are from Christian Louboutin's fall 2010 collection. This is
the new version of the famous Bridget...now it's back and full
of spikes. Oh! How I love the red soles...

Not All Of Them Are Good...

THE WORLD'S UGLIEST SHOES

Unfortunately not all shoes are worthy to be on our feet...even with the saying "there's always a old shoe for a sick foot". Me being the girl I am, would rather go barefoot than to be caught in one of these "beauties". What really surprises me is that some of my favorite designers joined in the insanity. I won't prolong this entry by trying to share the extent of my rage over what I truly believe to be a crime...after seeing these, I'm surprised i still have 20/20 vision.

Really?! "I'm going to sit on this chair with my high chair shoes!" Not only
who made these deserve to be shot, but also the incredibly fashion
challenged woman that wears it.
Getting married should be a time when you actually pay attention to what
you wear, even if normally you don't (which is not understandable, but...).
If I was the one waiting at the altar and saw these coming down the aisle, I would
take a hint from the sneakers and run for the hills...

OK...who the hell did you murder?! And what did you do with the
rest of the body? Wait, don't answer that...
Did a whorehouse from the 1920's throw up on your feet?

Do I really need to say anything besides where's
my blue liquid?
UGG's are already ugly, but after the collaboration with Jimmy
Choo, this is the result. Tassels and star studs?! Come on!!

Figured I'd save the best for last...Who the f**k makes these? I can answer it,
unfortunately, her name is Iris Shieferstein and in my opinion, she is a taxidermist
gone completely and utterly mad.

NY Fashion Week

Christian Siriano

Christian Siriano

This year for the first time since 1993 NY's Fashion Week moved out of the traditional tents of Bryant Park to Damrosch Park at the Lincoln Center complex, which is also home of the Metropolitan Opera House and American Ballet Theather. This Thursday at 2pm, Christian Siriano showed his new collection. I'm sure you all know him from Project Runway, but he's been designing since he was 13 years old and interned with Alexander McQueen  and Vivienne Westwood. now besides of showing full collections during Fashion Week, he has a partnership with Payless designing shoes and handbags and he created a make up line for Victoria's Secret. On top of it all, he wrote a book called Fierce Style: How To Be Your Most Fabulous Self.
His collection consisted of a mix of animal prints, cultures and textures. Siriano told USA Today "We were bringing in worlds from Africa...China, we had a bit of Mediterranean. So it was all about how the cultures mixed together."

Champagne Avec Chaussures

Bubbles and Red Soles

Back in the 1880's in there was this ritual of drinking out of a woman's shoe. Historically, there are many accounts of how it supposedly started. The earliest one I could find comes from a brothel, yes a brothel in Chicago. Two sisters Ada and Minna Lester opened the infamous Everleigh Club in 1900 becoming known then as the Everleigh Sisters. The brothel was decorated with all the luxuries available at the time, from marble in-laid beds, library and orchestra. Not to mention 30 beautiful girls available 24 hrs a day. According to the accounts, Prince Henry of Prussia came to the club in 1902 while visiting the US to pick up a ship for his brother German Kaiser Wilhelm II. During his visit, one of the girl's shoes flew off while dancing, hit a glass and spilled some champagne into it. A man standing by picked up the shoe and drank from it, and like all oddities in life, the other men around decided to do the same, get the shoe from the nearest girl and toast the Prince with "shoe champagne".
Last year my favorite designer Christian Louboutin, teamed up with champagne makers Piper Heidsieck to create a box set titled "Le Rituel". The set is to celebrate the drinking out of a shoe tradition. Besides, what can be better than champagne and stilettos?
