The must have series - Part Two

Bottoms

I was really torn about in how many parts I was going to write this post, if I was going to do pants and skirts separately or not. But I decided to put them all together and keep it simple. After all, we know that finding great fitting clothes for the bottom half of our bodies is sometimes not the easiest of tasks. But these are staples in every woman's closet, and with the right fit ( we all need to be conscious of this...not every girl can pull off  ultra skinny jeans...unfortunately ) you will have an endless combination of outfits that can take you from work to the dance floor.

THE TROUSER

You can find very reasonable priced trousers almost in any store.
The ones on the bottom are only $59.50 at the GAP.
The trouser is one of those pieces in your wardrobe that's so versatile you can wear with almost anything anywhere. Trousers come in very different shapes and cuts, so finding one that would be perfect for your body type shouldn't be too much of a strenuous task. The wide leg is definitely a trend for fall and for falling straight from the hip they're as wide in the thigh as they are in the hem, with that said I think we can all agree on how "forgiving" they are.

JEANS

Nothing makes you feel so confident and comfortable as your favorite pair of jeans, but I understand that finding the perfect pair of jeans is really difficult. I don't think that any other piece in our wardrobe is so brand loyal as our jeans, when we find a good one, we stick to it. There's nothing wrong with that but I would encourage you to be a little adventurous when shopping for your next pair, but keep in mind that the "jeans rules" still apply. In case you don't know what they are, here it goes:
Rule 1- Never, never buy a pair of jeans that when you put your heels on will look like flood pants, unless they're capris.
Rule 2- If you are particularly well endowed in the derriere department, big back pockets and designs are not for you.
Rule 3- If you sit down and you look like Joe the Plumber, you made two mistakes, the fit and the size. This is a huge no no, and yes, people will make fun of you.
Rule 4- This rule goes for every single piece inside your closet, buy your clothes in YOUR size!! Having to hold your pants up with a belt or having to lay on your bed with a pair of pliers to zip them up are equally bad.
Both of these jeans are boot cut, in my opinion is the most versatile and flattering of all denim cuts. The one above is by Adriano Goldschmied ($225.00) and the one on the top left are from Rock & Republic ($185.00) both are available at Bloomingdale's.

THE A-LINE SKIRT

Marc Jacobs Double Face Melange wool skirt.
The longer length updates the look. You can find
it at Nordstrom's .
The A-line skirt is a classic and deserves to live in your closet, it was designed to flatter every body type but when shopping for one you have to be conscious of a few things. The waist should fit perfectly, not too loose or too tight, both of these mistakes can accentuate problem areas like your hips or stomach. The length should be just below or at your knees and finally pay attention to the cut of the skirt, the best A-line is the one that widens gradually from top to bottom.
I know this seems like a lot of work for a skirt, but you'll be surprised on how versatile you'll find it once it's inside your closet.

This is a classic A-line from Margobelle, it's pretty and flirty
and would look great with a tank top and an umbrella drink.
THE PENCIL SKIRT

Theory Pencil Skirt's classic cut can be combined with a
button down for the office or a sequin tank for a night out.

The pencil skirt is definitely a staple and has been for decades, when a piece of clothing can weather that long of a period of time you can rest assured that it will never go anywhere. Pencil skirts are sleek, chic and will bring a beautiful curvy silhouette to any body type. A couple of things to keep in mind when shopping for one are :
1-Invest- Sure you can find a cheap pencil skirt, but if you find a high quality one, go for it. Since it is a timeless piece, it will never  go out of style, consider it an investment.
2-Try it on- I know that most of us are so used to grabbing our size from the rack and just try it at home the day we plan on wearing it. Do not do this with a pencil skirt!!! Because of its narrow shape, sizing can be a little different from the rest of your skirts.

Next's stretch pencil is retro inspired with a high waist and buttons. It's
perfect for a wearable take on fifties pin ups
